The Science & Technology Park @ UNM is owned and managed by the University of New Mexico. The Park is comprised of 163 acres, 41 of which were developed during Phase I. Phase II has commenced with the development of an additional 42 acres. Future phases will encompass approximately 80 acres. The Park was established in 1965, revived in 1988, and today consists of 534,263 square feet of existing research & development, laboratory, office and mixed-use space. The tenant focus is on technology-based companies, many of which are the creation of the Science & Technology Corporation @ UNM, the University’s technology commercialization arm. Leasing and development options include land sales, ground leases, built-to-suit and space leases.
The Park is a short distance from UNM’s main campus and is adjacent to Interstate 25, less than one and one half miles from downtown Albuquerque and the Albuquerque International Airport.
The Science & Technology Park @ UNM is unique in the Albuquerque market, both in the make-up of current tenants and its access to high-speed, fiber optic telecommunication facilities and other technology related resources. Proximity to the existing research and development activities in the Park and the beauty of the grounds are additional reasons to take advantage of the Park’s business opportunities. Technology-oriented businesses in the Park exist in the areas of microelectronics, photonics, optoelectronics, biometrics, spectroscopy technology, advanced materials, manufacturing technology, medical research and testing, and medical devices.
Located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, UNM ranks in the top five in rate of growth of the National Institute of Health funding and spends nearly $300 million in annual research funding. The University is committed to advancing the frontier of technology and its applications. It has a wealth of laboratory facilities including high performance computing and information systems capabilities, as well as collaborative ties to research at Sandia National Laboratories and Los Alamos National Laboratory. The University belongs to New Mexico’s remarkable community of research and R&D facilities: Sandia National Laboratories, Los Alamos National Laboratory, the Air Force Research Laboratory, National Center for Genome Research in Santa Fe, The Santa Fe Institute, Intel, Honeywell, Johnson & Johnson, and The Mind Institute. UNM researchers benefit from a cross-fertilization of ideas in this rich base of intellectual and entrepreneurial talent.
