Albuquerque’s Manufacturing Training and Technology Center (MTTC) is a 56,000 sq. ft. facility situated on the University of New Mexico (UNM) Science and Technology Park. The MTTC houses offices for academic and commercial tenants, research and training facilities, prototyping bays, a 6,200 sq. ft. semiconductor cleanroom, an auditorium, and a cafe.
Start-up companies that have made use of this incubation facility, as they developed products and sought venture capital, include Inlight Solutions, Lumidigm, VeraLight, TruTouch Technologies, Luminous Medical, Senior Scientific, Advent Solar, EMCORE, Avanca Medical, and Gamma Solar.
The UNM MTTC Cleanroom, configured to support semiconductor and micro electro mechanical systems (MEMS) training and device development, currently includes processes principally associated with photolithography, wet etch, plasma etching (including deep reactive ion etching) and metrology (SEM, interferometetry, etc.). Trainees have included UNM engineering students, community college technicians, and regional high school faculty members. Commercial and research customers are charged for use of the MTTC Clean room on a monthly billing cycle. Details of the cleanroom and the MTTC can be found at http://www.mep.unm.edu.
